KayTar participated in the Special Olympics today! They have a young athletes program for kids ages 2-7. She rode on the bus to the Big Gym and was able to do all kinds of fun athletic activities today. Basketball was definitely her favorite!

My niece, in the duckie jammies, throwing up the peace sign! I love the look on her face in this picture - it matches the sign language.

Sometimes after her tube feeding, she curls up and drifts right to sleep, like a baby after nursing. I love that.

He kicks ass.

Hey guys, I've been in a pretty major funk for the last few weeks.  My old nemesis chronic depression has been hitting me pretty hard.  Since baking is my best form of therapy right now I thought I'd catch up with my week in sweets.  Sorry to all of you that might be dieting...

2/19/09 - Inspired by more of Phyllis's food porn, I had to make cheesecake & praline topping.

2/21/09 - Had dinner with my sister, her boyfriend, and Clint.  Upon Liz's request, I made chocolate cupcakes with peanut butter frosting.

2/26/09 - Taking a coffee break between classes.  I love this place; it's so comforting.

I glanced over from my cup of coffee this morning, and this is how G is chillin' next to me. Daddy's recliner, a good Barney dvd...what could be better to a 4 yr old.

My glorious Saturday night grading 40 undergraduate exams. I might need a drink...or seven.

This is what a sick birthday party girl looks like.

Fancy dress? Check.

Fever? Check.

Cough? Check.

Rash that may or may not be related? Check.

Just our luck!

Up late making pink-vanilla cupcakes and icing for KayTar's birthday party!

One of Z's newly-instilled weekly chores is to feed the cats.
He is quite thorough.

Someone unlocked all the characters on Lego Star Wars!

Angel

Today I had an appointment to get a CT scan done in order to look at my sinuses. I've been having trouble with my allergies since my son was born 8 years ago and have just gotten around to getting it looked at. After hours of studying what normal sinus CT scans look like and severe Sinusitis CT scans look like, it looks like I belong in the latter category. Suck! I haven't shared these with my doctor yet (I should see him next week) but I just know he's going to suggest surgery. Add this to my recent diagnosis of LPR (a sort of acid reflux) and I feel like I'm falling apart. The addition of 4 new medicines to my regimen doesn't bother me too much but not being able to eat my most favorite foods just chaps me. How does one live without caffeine? I beg of someone to tell me!

Btw, obviously I didn't take above picture.

My hubby is Vietnamese. In most, if not all asian cultures, it is customary to leave your shoes at the door. I don't do this, and I don't mind it so long is it is only one, maybe two pairs. Every week I walk past my entry way and see what seems to be something quite similar to the men's shoe department at Nordstrom. Today, there are TWELVE pairs sitting there. Sheesh. Time for me to relocate the kicks.

You don't need to tell me the cedar count spiked again. Trust me, I already know.

I'm staying in bed on account of a minor bellyache but I love using my
Little Mermaid mug. That's def one of my fav Disney movies; plus, who

I found mini-Ben & Jerry's today at HEB (it comes with a spoon folded up inside the cap, too).  Look at how tiny it is, next to a pint of Blue Bell.  Just the right size for someone like me who isn't crazy about ice cream, but still has a small craving every now & then.  And for $.99, it's just the right price, too.  Good things do come in small packages.

I grew up in the pool every summer and I love going swimming.  Still, there's something about pools at night that reminds me of Cocoon, and it totally creeps me out.

I have been waiting for the day when Cameron's creativity would take flight. It seems the day is finally here. Most kids his age have been drawing things like this for a while but not my boy. He thoroughly impressed me today with his interpretation of our family. Gotta love the angry eyebrows on all of us, lol.

I let my 12 yr old have the camera for a bit last night and she snapped this of my son. I sure do love those darn freckles and his blue eyes!

Kyla 44/365

Can you tell what has been on my mind lately?
I've read all of these in the past 2-3 weeks, except the bottom one, which is my textbook and I read that one on a daily basis.

Phyllis 44/365

I know I didn't actually take this picture, but it said things better than I ever could. Enjoy.

Sheree (um...I have no idea what number to put here because I suck ass)

Let me just say, I seriously apologize for my lack in posting. I know I say this every time I log in (which is few and far between) but I mean it this time... I am finally getting a handle on school, family, and free time so hopefully I won't be so absent from pixel chicks!

That being said, I haven't had a lot of oppurtunity to pick up my camera, but I did snap a few cute ones of my super-special princess. Enjoy!

Mary 43/365

There's something magical and somewhat surreal about twilight.  To me, everything seems foreign and fascinating at this time.  I'll admit sometimes that I look for pixies or at least fireflies when I wander around my apartment at dusk.
